Course History and Design
Construction of the Northamptonshire County Golf Course began in April 1909, and the course was opened for play the following year. The original 18 holes were designed by the eminent golf course architect, Harry S. Colt, who also designed the iconic courses at Wentworth and Sunningdale. Over the years, the course has undergone few major changes, with the most significant alterations made by James Braid in 1947. Braid reconfigured the pattern and arrangement of many bunkers and relocated the 18th green to its present position in front of the clubhouse.
